70-John Cipollina

Született a Kaliforniai Berkeleyben, 1943 augusztus 24-én.
Egyik szimbóluma lett a San Franciscoi hippikultusznak (1965-1975).

Szinte gyerekként alapította a Quicksilver Messenger Service-t . Lemezeket rögzített a több tucat zenekarral . Huszonöt éves aktiv karrierje alatt megreformálta a rock, blues és a jazz gitározást.

Cipollinának olyan gitár hangja volt, ami senki máséra nem hasónlitott korábbról. Egyedülálló rezonanciája megérintette az embereket olyan helyen, ami addig talán nem is létezett, a lelkükön. Hangja "San Francisco Öböl Hangulat"-ot teritett a világra.

Johnt egész életén át tartó légúti betegsége vitte el május 29-én, 1989-ben. Nagy örökséget, még nagyobb ürt hagyott hátra.

1995-óta John legendás erősítője ki van állitva a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame -ben, biztosítva neki egy helyet a zene történelmében.

Amikor elment, a WDR neki szentelt egy szombat éjjelt. Szöveg, hirdetés, minden nélkül, 6 óra Johnnal egyben. (A lenti Graventis felvétel is ment.) Fel sem merült bennem az alvás lehetősége, cserélgettem a kazikat a kis monó vhs-magnóban, keresgéltem, hol van üres hely, mi törölhető. Különböző évjáratu koncertek voltak, más-más emberekkel játszott együtt, de a joo mindig ott füstölgött a gitárok fejébe tüzve számok közben. Milyen illatra gondoljak?
