58- Legendák- Ma Rainey -hárs-

Ma Rainey
Gertrude Pridgett 1886 április 26.-án született a georgiai Colombusban. Szülei Thomas és Ella Pridgrett zenész (lantos) mutatványosként keresték a betevőt. Gertrude 14 évesen lépett szülei nyomába, az AA Bunch of Black Berries nevü showbandában.
1904-ben találkozott, és házasságot kötött William Rainey vándorzenésszel. Felvette a Ma Raiey nevet, Rabbit Foot énekessel és férjével cirkuszi sátrakban fellépve megismertették a bluest az USA déli államaival. Nézem a szülőháza előtti emléktábla fotóját, talán virágzó hársfa illatát érzem...

The Third Idea is a collection of mash-up videos using material from the website archive.org. Each video is composed of one song and one video - all from the public domain â with the video recut to match the audio. The Third Idea is the implied narrative created by the combination of imagery and music. Itâs not a revolutionary concept but the source material provides a compelling commentary about creativity, intellectual property and cultural shifts of the past 100 plus years.

Recorded live at Earthquake McGoon’s in San Francisco,Turk Murphy’s Jazz Band plays two sets of energetic, foot stomping, Dixieland and Ragtime jazz. Whether playing old standards by Jelly Roll Morton and Ma Rainey, or some of his own compositions, Turk Murphy’s trombone playing was always of the highest quality. A regular on the San Francisco jazz scene as well as something of an international star, Turk was the premiere performer of New Orleans style jazz in Northern California for nearly 40 years . Murphy was the co-owner of Earthquake McGoon’s as well as the leader of its regular house band, and is clearly relaxed in this live recording as he introduces the song’s and members of the band.
